(North America) Forestweb announced today, the release of its September Pulp & Paper Price Indices. The closely watched pulp index moved upward 1.79% from last month, posting a gain of 8.70% this year. Following rapid implementation of higher prices for eucalyptus and domestic bleached hardwood pulps in August, there was little pushback as NBSK reached a list price of $850/tonne in North America and southern pine rose to $810.
The Packaging Papers Index remained at 112.27 for the fourth consecutive month in September, reflecting steady pricing for most packaging grades, including coated and uncoated recycled paperboard.
Printing/writing papers showed a 1.13% month-to-month gain in the Publishing Papers Index while the Communication Papers Index rose 1.33% in September.
Developed by Forestweb, the North American Pulp & Paper Price Indices represent a statistical measure of a weighted average for each grade and summarizes the relative changes in price levels over time.
