(USA) Smurfit-Stone Container Corporation, one of the world's largest paper recyclers, will feature the company's recycling solutions and use of advanced waste sorting line technology at the 40th annual Waste Expo May 6-8 at the McCormick Place Convention Complex in Chicago. Smurfit-Stone representatives will be available to discuss how its recycling and waste reduction services can benefit other businesses at booth #3407 on the exhibit floor.

Smurfit-Stone's innovative partnerships and use of enhanced sort-system technology allow the company to dig deeper into the municipal solid waste stream to recover more fiber and other recyclables. This is accomplished using a series of mechanically separating screens, discs, magnets and air currents to separate various recyclable materials into their base components.

Installed at landfills or municipal waste transfer stations, these sort lines and Smurfit-Stone's recycling expertise help communities and waste haulers reduce their tipping fees, landfill expansion requirements, and fuel emissions related to waste processing.

Smurfit-Stone is one of the world's largest paper-based packaging companies, and recycling programs are an integral part of its sustainable commitment and philosophy of environmental stewardship.

Smurfit-Stone achieved a company record by collecting more than 7 million tons of recyclable materials in 2007.

Smurfit-Stone Container Corporation (Nasdaq: SSCC) is the industry's leading integrated containerboard and corrugated packaging producer and is one of the world's largest paper recyclers.
