(China) A new energy saving services program was successfully launched last week by an alliance of international leaders in energy efficiency and energy financing. The launch event was attended by senior executives of major companies from the textile, pulp and paper and other energy-intensive industries as well as local and foreign government representatives and key industry associations.
The innovative Energy Savings Solutions (ESS) program, which offers access to energy savings solutions with no capital investment required, was introduced by the "Asia Energy Efficiency Alliance" (AEEA) - a consortium led by Honeywell Building Solutions (HBS) and Asia Clean Capital Limited. The Alliance and its unique ESS program combine a number of complementary strengths and technologies, including the engineering and project implementation excellence of Honeywell with project funding expertise of Asia Clean Capital, to create tangible business and environmental benefits for energy-intensive industries. Two other alliance members, Solar Turbines Inc. (a Caterpillar Company) and Thermal Energy International Inc., are providing a range of leading-edge technologies focusing on energy recovery, steam system efficiency, bio-energy, co-generation and tri-generation solutions.
"We are very pleased to support this event, as we are committed to encouraging major energy-using companies in Dongguan region to adopt energy savings solutions and protect the environment" said Mr. LIU Qing Tang, Director of the Energy Use and Monitoring Centre for the Dongguan Economic & Trade Bureau (DGETB).
"The Alliance is very pleased by the excellent turn-out for the introduction of this program," said Jeffrey Heung of Honeywell Building Solutions. "The companies attending today from the pulp and paper, and textile industries are all seeking to reduce their energy costs, secure a stable energy supply, and improve their environmental performance.
"The program customizes technical energy efficiency solutions for each customer's specific facility," commented Mr. Heung. "The solutions include converting customer waste streams into valuable utilities, including electricity, heating and cooling, funding project implementation and ongoing maintenance."
When asked about the local government's views on the Alliance's funded energy savings solutions, Mr. Liu replied by saying he was pleased to see such an innovative model which provides added incentive for companies to reduce energy consumption and address urgent environmental concerns. "DGETB is also looking at ways to provide financial support to assist companies to implement energy savings solutions."
Specific project case studies were presented by Alliance executives, including detailed explanations of the different consultative, financial and technical components of the program. A panel of Alliance members offered informative answers to a range of questions from a lively and engaged audience of leaders from the textile and pulp and paper industries.
