(USA) Area residents have argued against a proposed air discharge permit that would raise allowable emission standards to accommodate construction designed to improve the efficiency of a boiler at Georgia-Pacific's pulp and paper mill in Toledo. An increase in the release of pollutants, the burning of plastic and tire-derived fuel, and lack of an ambient air monitoring system were concerns most expressed by citizens during a public hearing conducted by the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ).
