(USA) Xanté and SMART Papers have teamed up to offer an extensive collection of SMART Papers' premium heavy stock and specialty papers for use on the new Xanté Ilumina® 502 digital color press. As a result of this collaboration, Ilumina digital press owners will be able to offer their customers a wide variety of substrates previously unavailable for short-run applications. Ultra heavy paper print work, traditionally the province of large volume offset printers, can now be achieved affordably and with the highest quality, on demand in the short-run digital world.
The Xanté Ilumina 502 Digital Color Press occupies a unique place in the digital laser market because of its ability to handle a wide range of paper weights, from text weight to ultra heavy cover, 75 to 502 gsm. The new Ilumina can now deliver what may be the most expansive range of output in its class, from premium four-color business cards, postcards, t-shirt transfers, label stock, direct mail pieces and brochures to more specialized products such as packaging.
SMART Papers' products, sized for use on the Ilumina 502, push creative opportunities even further.
The super-premium coated and premium uncoated line includes a broad range of gloss and matte coated products, metallic, and uncoated fiber-enhanced papers of varying textures. SMART Papers' wide array of colors and textures include environmentally friendly selections made with sustainable and/or recycled fibers.
"These premium papers produce spectacular results, from the most deeply textured canvas and linen to the sleekest metallic. Small to mid-sized printers who discover that they can expand their offerings at such low cost are going to be delighted. The ability to add on-demand, ultra heavy stock and premium specialty papers on a quick, toner-based digital press is exciting," says Robert Ross, Xanté CEO.
"Xanté is clearly leading the transition in developing digital presses capable of utilizing these special, and in demand, substrates. This is something that has never been available before," says Chuck DeWitt, director of product management for SMART Papers. "The unique design of the Ilumina provides a versatile system capable of handling everything from traditional laser print papers to heavy card, metallic and coated stocks. We're happy to work with such an innovative company, to bring our SMART Papers solutions to more and more printers."
The new Ilumina 502 and SMART Papers collection are being featured together at the Graphics of the Americas (GOA) show, February 28 through March 1 in Miami Beach, Florida; and also at drupa, taking place in Dusseldorf, Germany, May 29 to June 11. The Xanté SMART Papers catalog will be available in limited quantities at both Xanté and SMART Papers GOA exhibits.
