CHICAGO – Aug 31, 2017 – Clayco, Inc. today announced the completion of the construction of a Georgia-Pacific warehouse-distribution facility in University Park, Illinois, located at Gateway 57 Industrial Park. The facility is a joint venture between CRG and Venture One along with design-build firm Clayco and its subsidiary Forum Studio to create the 1,000,560-square-foot distribution center and office space.

The investment will allow Georgia-Pacific to expand capabilities in University Park, where the company previously operated in a 700,000-square-foot facility. The distribution center will be used for to supply paper goods for commercial and recreational use for some of Georgia-Pacific’s largest clients, including Walmart and Costco.

“We are pleased to have helped Georgia-Pacific expand their presence in University Park with the opening of their new facility,” said Clayco Executive Vice President and Partner Kevin McKenna. “Our commitment to Georgia-Pacific was to thoroughly understand their needs in order to create an environment that helps their people accomplish more each day. I believe this team achieved our goal.”

The structure is made up of precast wall panels, structural steel and has a ballasted EPDM roof system. The truck docks, drive aisles and trailer storage are all concrete pavement with asphalt paving at the employee parking lot. The building has a 36-foot clear height. In total, there are 100 dock door positions and two drive-in doors. HVAC, electrical, fire protection and plumbing scopes of work were designed and installed as design-build.
