(Pakistan)--March 09, 2009--Afghan Transit Trade (ATT) and import of finished paper products in the name of waste paper, under misquoting and false declaration by the commercial importers, is causing hardships for paper manufacturing industry, chairman Pakistan Pulp Paper and Board Mills Association (PPPBMA) said Monday.
Around 90 percent import of finished paper products are made in the name of waste paper while import more than double of the consumption in Afghanistan is being made under ATT, chief PPPBMA, Kamran Khan said. “The paper industry is importing around 10 percent of the paper waste for manufacturing pulp to prepare different types of paper and paper board.”
