(India) The recent Union Budget, spiralling prices of raw materials and the cartelisation of craft paper mills have put the corrugated box industry in dire straits. Now, the industry is considering a moderate price rise for end products, said a top office-bearer of corrugated box manufacturers' body.

According to Gujarat Corrugated Box Manufacturers' Association (GCBMA) president Dharmendra Pandya, the industry has to bear the highest rate of excise duty at 14 per cent, though the duty on the basic raw material craft paper has been reduced to 8 per cent from 12 per cent.
