Dec 29,2016 --The Lyreco Group, the third largest global distributor of workplace solutions, presents a yearly award to suppliers who have sustainability and social responsibility at the heart of their strategy. This year SCA won the award.

Erhard Stöckl and Susan Iliefski Janols received the award on behalf of SCA from Christophe Chambre, chief operational officer (COO).
Since signing the UN Global Compact in 2002, Lyreco launched its Eco-Future strategy in 2012 with the aim of “Being the benchmark for responsible workplace solutions”. Strong governance ensures that decision-making processes reflect a balance between the three pillars of sustainable development: Social, Environmental and Economic aspects. Each pillar is systematically analysed to determine the risks and opportunities for enhancing the company’s sustainability and to assess whether it sets a good example.

Partnership is key

Lyreco involves its suppliers in this process through its Sustainable Development Programme and focused assessments.
“In partnership with our suppliers, we want to create shared values. We are committed to collaborating with our suppliers who will help us to build a sustainable future," says Hervé Milcent, Lyreco Group CEO.

Lyreco is rewarding the best sustainable development performance based on the ISO26000 standard in seven categories: Products, CSR Governance, Environment, Health and Safety, Social Responsibility, Supply Chain, and Business Ethics.
SCA wins first place

In 2016, Lyreco assessed over 85 suppliers and SCA won the Sustainable Development Award for making a difference in:

The all-round assortment of “eco-responsible” Tork® products that currently comprise 88% of total sales with Lyreco.
CSR initiatives, reinforced by the recent commitment to the Circular Economy 100 Programme (CE100), which campaigns for a circular economy

“The Lyreco Awards are both a recognition and an incentive for encouraging even greater commitment. By rewarding our best partners and setting out why they were nominated, we hope to encourage other suppliers to continue improving their sustainable development performance, and, at the same time, we are able to strengthen the Group’s CSR policy in the outside world in this way”, explains Nasser KAHIL, Group Quality, Security & Sustainability Director at Lyreco.

Erhard Stöckl, VP Key Account Management SCA, commented: “This Award makes me really proud as it is a great recognition of the hard work done by the entire Lyreco team over many years. It’s also a confirmation that all our Sustainability efforts in SCA puts us ahead of competition. Such an award can only be achieved by a great team effort amongst different functions and geographies.”
