HAWKESBURY, ON, Canada--Jan. 12, 2009--/CNW/-- United Steelworkers' (USW) Ontario/Atlantic Director Wayne Fraser announced Monday that members of 9211 have a new, three-year collective agreement with Lapaco Paper Products Ltd., a Quebec-based maker of paper products for the food service industry.

The old contract expired Nov. 30 and the new one includes wage increases of 2 per cent in each of the three years, with some classifications getting 2.5 per cent. There is a new provision for stand-by pay and workers will receive a fifth week of vacation after 25 years of service

Lapaco was established in 1950, with its head office in Ville Ste-Catherine, PQ. The Hawkesbury plant is at 1173 Cameron Street.

The United Steelworkers represents 280,000 men and women working in every sector of Canada's economy.
